c.1948 Hubley, No.476 Kiddie Dump Truck in Original Box
I can't recall the last time I graded any toy as "mint in mint box", but this No.476 Dump Truck by Hubley perfectly fits the bill. Unused, and unplayed store stock in factory fresh mint condition. Even the point where the dump lever makes contact with the dump bed catch, just behind the cab, is in perfect condition. The shininess you may see in this area in the first photo was due to an unfinished factory painted surface; the paint didn't reach all the way inside the little insert. It's not silver shiny from wear. The truck is all die cast metal with cast iron nickel plated dump lever and solid, black rubber tires. The rear tires are tandem. It was painted with an olive green cab and trailer. Front grille, bumper, and head lights are silver painted. Dump bed is solid cherry red with chrome plated tail gate. There is no plastic on this toy. The box was printed with several illustrations of the actual toy in matching olive green and red colors. Toy name, catalog number, manufacturer name and address were included. The blank white areas are possibly the brightest of any 60+ year old box I've seen. Size: 9½". Sold: Apr. 2009
